Intake Help
ok.....so im tearing into the 350 thats in the truck. its not original and from what i can get from the partial vin its a 75. it has a 2bbl, hei and a bunch of vac lines that are not plugged. my question is, what intake and carb set up can i use to get away from all the stray tubes that can go nowhere?

A little more information could be helpful, describing what your goals are for the truck! really though, most after market manifolds are more streamlined than the cast iron stockers. I personally have an edelbrock Carb and manifold. I like the manifold, and i like the look of the Carb, but not the way it functions. It does eliminate a lot of vacuum lines though, but Its on a 69 with no power brakes. Overall horsepower and torque goals can have you chasing dual planes or single planes or even air gap style so you could potentially run lines underneath the runners. There's so many options, you would have to access your end goals to narrow it down. Good luck!

The options are almost endless... Lots of intakes and carbs out there. What are your plans for the truck. Daily driver, street/strip, mild performance, close to stock?

right now its a daily and will some heavy lifting duties (towing 10k lb travel trailer).
so im thinking 650cfm carb and something like an edelbrock performer? issue im having with the current set up is the vac leaks i think may be causing my vac advance on the dizzy to not respond and if i put that much weight the 2bbl wont cut it. just dont know which manifold to get. current has all the lines for the missing emissions controls for whatever year the motor is(again think its a 75) and i want to rid myself of those. guess my question is.....sbc is sbc and any sbc intake will fit? currently has an HEI and there is a size difference for the hole for the dizzy to a standard points setup.....right?????

velociraptor:the dizzy hole should be the same for all motors, at least the older ones, not sure about after 2000 years...

Not all small blocks are the same after you get into the later blocks with center bolt valve covers and manifolds that have the 90deg. Bolt pattern for vortec style heads. For your purposes most manifolds will fit. Steer clear of egr and vortec style though if you order online. Other than that you'd probably want a dual plane for better torque and a manifold that suits power from idle to the top of your power band, somewhere between 4500-5000 rpms. That also depends if you have a stall converter or not.
