Hidden tunes
I was looking at this thread
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=548824 and saw on the last post this product http://www.pyleaudio.com/sku/PLMCA25...bile-Amplifier and was wondering if any one has used this amp before. The reason I ask is because I want to be able to use my thumb drive to play music. Last edited by Gianyveedub; 05-19-2012 at 12:52 AM. |

Re: Hidden tunes
it should work for that, I would be a little suspect of the power rating though because that looks like a small aluminum project box based on the size of the usb plug.

Re: Hidden tunes
I was thinking of using it and running it to a 1000w amp. I have heard a lot of people say especially on this forum that they do not like the sound of the Custom Autosound and the USA-1 radios. And wanted to see what others were doing instead of a radio.

Re: Hidden tunes
I'm not one to speak negative about a product line I've never tried, but I don't think I'd ever buy a product from their line. I know the issue is playing a flash drive which it's designed to do, I would just worry about how long it would work and how well it sounded given who made it.
@sandiego65, it doesn't have an aux port, so you couldn't hook up a phone to it and since it doesn't say an iPod works, I would rule that out too. Looks like only SD and Flash drives if you ask me. I think to option detailed in the H.A.M.B. blog is a better option, but it does require the purchase of an ipod. To make it a little more versitile you can use a RCA to Audio jack cable instead of the iPod cable so you can hook up any digital media device (like a cell phone with Pandora). My issue with only using a thumb drive and only having skip forward or back buttons, would be getting to a song I want to hear. It may even start with the 1st song on the drive each time you start the car...

Re: Hidden tunes
My BFF (yes I did say BFF) is a Audio Installer. Naturally, he is in charge of the audio portion of my truck. Imagine his disgust when I told him it'll have a delete plate and nothing else can be seen. Telling him he had full reign of the inside of the factory center console didn't go over well either!
That set up seems like a good option.

Re: Hidden tunes
Avoid anything Pyle. Poor quality, overrated power ratings, high failure rate. I say this knowing their reputation and having used their products.

Re: Hidden tunes
here is a similar solution im going to use in my truck the set comes with 2 4" speakers and a 25x2 amp the amp has a 3mm jack for head phones and a volume control and hi pass xover im not going to use the speakers im going to build kick panel like some of the others have on the site install a pair of basic 6 1/2 two way speakers and plug my phone into it for audio siginal also it gives you the adjustabilty of song via the phone you set the volume on the amp hide it away and use the volume on your phone for adjustment i am the outside sale rep for various 12volt lines in alabama and mississippi and this is one on my best selling items the kit is made for motorcycles and scooters but will work in a hideaway application in a old car or truck just to get you some sound you are going to beating down the block with this set up but at least you dont have to hear your self sing the compant is renegade and the item number is rxa100b hope this gives you an idea
