Suede Headliner...Good idea or bad idea?

I am currently redoing the interior of my 87 reg cab. I am having the seat upholstered with black vinyle and charcoal suede inserts. I actually found the same suede material on an 1/8" foam backing for headliner use and was thinking about possibly using it for my new headliner (current headliner has started to sag). Any thoughts? All opinions welcomed. The interior color of the truck is charcoal. The exterior color is the factory charcoal as well, at least i think thats what the factory color was called.

I'm not a big fan of suede, but it should look good if it matches your inserts.

I was torn too on that in the beginning. The sample i looked at was really nice though so it kind of pushed me in favor of it. Wanting to stay away from an all vinyl seat. I didnt really find any other fabric patterns that i liked either.

Mine is black suede and a crew cab, I love it! My front and rear bench seats also have inserts in suede, if it were my daily driver I would not have put it on the seats. It would show wear and tear quickly I think.

Ask and you shall receive, some of these might show blue door panels but they are now black.

Re: Suede Headliner...Good idea or bad idea?

I thought about doing mine in suede and wanted to do it. Then I found out there was an automotive upholstery shop right by my house, went there and got looking at all the cool stuff they had I totally forgot I wanted to do suede. Kinda wish I would have. Part of me hopes my redone headliner starts sagging so I have an excuse to redo it in suede. PITA to pull the headliner on my crewcab just to undo some good work. Long story short, if it's not too late, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

LOW1TON, tell me about them door inserts. Did you do them or have them done?

When you say door inserts are you talking about the carpet at the bottom of my doors?

No, the fabric part around the door handle.

On the blue door panels those are from Chevrolet in the silverado trim package stock, on the black door panels they are plastic and part of the mold design, the black door panels came from LMC, hope this makes sense

That makes sense. I didn't even notice the blue door panel at first. My truck has the inserts like the blue panel, but they are pretty shot. Looking for tips on how to redo them myself.
