Re: 454 Engine

i would go with a nv4500 as it has the od in it you will need the big block/6.2 rad idk if the mounts are the same on the v6 as the small block but if they are then they will fit the big block fine. i have done a few swaps on these trucks but not a v6 to big block.... yet

Re: 454 Engine

you will likely need new mounts other then that everything should fit, they offered the 454 in these in the mid to late 70s and they did not change the engine compartments much if any

Re: 454 Engine

Yea I would defiantly get a bigger radiator. Are you wanting to go auto or manual on the tranny? Nice score on the stepper as well

Re: 454 Engine

I put a BB in my 85 fleet side that had a 4.3 in it and had to change the engine mount brackets on the frame as they set further back with the v6. Go to a wrecking yard and look for anything that had a v8.

Re: 454 Engine

dsquared beet me to it

you will have to change them quickly. for one they are lighter weight springs for the ride quality with the small v6 and your dropping in alott more weight. the front springs need to be slightly heavier. if you plan o drop the truck any or stick with original ride height now would be the time to decide.

great looking long step i have only seen 2 in my time ( well only seen 2 while paying attention)
