Why do some 68 grilles have silver/grey versus white?

I know there was a thread on this very subject, but I skipped it. I did a search, but cant find it. Now that I got one, Im curious to know the reason for the color change. Is it because its factory white body color?

Here is a link from a thread from last week with a few pics. I don't know why they did it but I think it looks good. Maybe one of the more knowledgeable guys could say why they did it, I would guess just a fashion statement.
