Check Engine Light on after hose-down...
Remember when your dad would say "Don't hose down the engine compartment, some of that stuff should not get wet!"?
Well, that is what i did. What can I say it was dirty! Then the check engine light came on (immediately after) and has been on ever since. How do I make that thing go off (the right way! don't go sayin' black tape!). 1984 chevy silverado 130K 305/700r4 No AC --Nick |

I wash down the engine on my 83 regularly when ever I wash the truck, never had any problems, but did a wash down my wifes 2000 Blazer and it barely started and flashed the engine light, took a leaf blower to it and blew the crap out of the engine bay and it cleared up, concentrated on all the electrical connectors

There a way to retrive tha codes using a jumper wire between to terminals of tha aldl..

OBD-II didnt start till 96 I believe, not sure when OBD-I started tho

OBD1 started in 81.... 84 is OBD1 ( rectangle ALDL )

I thought the trucks didn't get obd until tbi came out.
