What does everyone use to hold tailgates shut

Mainly on the step sides and pre 67' trucks. I don't want to use "S" hooks and chains, and don't really care to have it able to open just don't want the new paint chipped off.

I've seen 70's-80's style seat belt buckles, the square, chrome, push button ones for step side tailgate latches.

That puts a little bit of a bump in the road...

How about those pins with the flip spring on em? Them ones that are a ob longed circle and lock one way or the other. You could dip em in the rubber coating stuff for tool handles.

Re: What does everyone use to hold tailgates shut

Both great ideas, I'll have to run by the farm store and see if they have any of those pins like you said. Only bad part bout the hinge kit is the truck is painted.....I really figured I could find some kind of rubber coated hook but no luck so far.

Something like this, maybe?

@ Mar-k.com

There's a product that 3M makes that people apply to protect paint against stone chips. It's clear.

I just know the lil devils can do a number on your finger if ya ain't careful.

Re: What does everyone use to hold tailgates shut

I really like the hidden latches and link assemblies from Mar-K.

go to - http://www.mar-k.com then scroll down to TAILGATE PARTS.

Very nice pieces.
