Rear trim / molding help!!

Hi guys,
Working with a '72 Jimmy where the previous owner removed and filled all the original trim mounting holes. Purchased the complete kit from LMC and I'm trying to put the rear tailgate and tailight surround trim back in place but need some guidance: What size holes are needed? How does it attach around the lights? Pictures would be appreciated (maybe yours is without trim and can show the holes?). Thanks in advance! -Scott

This will give you an idea to where the holes are located.

Perfect - VERY helpful, thanks! Any idea what the hole diameter is for the retaining clips? Any similar pics of the tailgate itself? Awesome truck by the way - checked out your build before. Thanks again!

Re: Rear trim / molding help!!

1/4", maybe 3/16th's
The side moldings holes I welded closed and used 3M's trim tape.
I stuck the moldings on about 9 years ago and there is no sign's of them even loosening.

You can kinda see the tailgate trim holes here.
It's the only pic I have.

Re: Rear trim / molding help!!

Yeah, I initially wanted to use the 3M tape on these moldings but it looks like the "pocket" on the back of the trim might be too deep to allow that. Did you use the 3M stuff on the rear trim as well, or just the side molding? I know they make diffrent thicknesses (.125, 3mm being the thickest) but wasn't sure if that is enough - looks like I'd need about 1/4" on the upper. Double up the tape?! And not sure how it would work around the tail lights. Thanks again for your help.

Re: Rear trim / molding help!!

tailgate trim I used the stock hardware.
Tailgate "Chevrolet" band is held on with factory screws.
