Still looking for rear spring hangers
I'm still looking for a set of rear spring hangers for a 70 k5, k10 or k20 4x4. So far i have found out that 69's are different from 70's. And 71 & 72 are the same, but different from 70. I beileve that hangers from like years are all the same whether on a blazer or truck so long as they're 4x4.
Thanks Last edited by Jdubs71; 06-20-2012 at 05:10 PM. |

I have a few hangers here, but can't remember what they are off of. Could you identify by a pic?

Re: Still looking for rear spring hangers
Here are a couple pics to show what i'm dealing with. The frame is a 70 k5 4x4 and the hangers I have are for a 71-72. The stamped part of the frame keeps this hanger from setting flush on the frame. The hole spacing on the hanger I need should be 7 1/4" on center for the top set of holes and 5 1/2 " on center for the bottom set of holes. the hanger I need should measure about 8 3/4" total width at the top of the hanger. 71-72 are 10" top width.
Thanks for all your help i've been on this mission for about four months now. I've searched numerous salvage yards and pm'd many on this forum with no luck yet. I have the suspension lift (new) just sitting waiting to go on. I know most of you are wondering what happened to the old ones, but it's a long story. Bought the frame powder coated already it looked good and I got too excited too soon. Got it home and discovered the spring issue which I didn't think would be to hard of a find then realized the frame was bent basically it was a polished turd! Learned a lesson and in the mean time i've become quite the expert in rear spring hangers. 69 are year specific, same with 70, and 71-72 are the same. Last edited by Jdubs71; 06-20-2012 at 11:40 PM. Re: Still looking for rear spring hangers
Tell us more about the lift you are using, as there may be an alternative. Are those the FRONT hangers for the REAR springs or the REAR hangers for the REAR springs?
I have a 72 K5 and purchased a shackle flip kit from DIY4x that will give me 4" of lift with stock springs and eliminate the blocks. ORD also offers a similar kit that does the same thing but uses the original style spring shackle. I like the DIY4x version better as you can easily change the shackles to fine tune ride height. |

Re: Still looking for rear spring hangers
Yes, they're the front hangers for the rear leaf springs. I looked into the shackle flip, but couldn't find anything that would work for the front of rear spring hangers. My rear springs are 4" sky jackers and I don't want to go higher than that. I've heard from a few people that may have some stock spring hangers so I think I will hold off a bit to see if it something comes through. If not I will just build something.

Re: Still looking for rear spring hangers
I have a 70 gmc Jimmy 4x4 that I am parting out. I might be able to take the spring hangers off. Problem is that I had a guy wanting to buy all I wasn't going to need. I will touch base with him and see if he needs them.
