Re: stepside wheel size
If you are running stock suspension /stock height you can get a 10 inch rim under it, if you are lower only an 8 inch rim.

Re: stepside wheel size
Just note – backspacing will be very important with a stepside. The fenders were designed for the 54/55 Chevy truck which was narrower than the 60-66 models. Fleetsides have considerably more room for fat tires because the bed sides were designed to be the same width as the cab.

Re: stepside wheel size
If you get the wide fiberglass fenders from Classic chevy truck parts you can tuck a 10" wide rim with no problem, thats what I did. I believe mine is a 255, it is almost 12" wide.

Re: stepside wheel size
I run a 17x9" wheel with 4 1/2" backspace and -12mm offset on my 65 stepside. The tires are 275/55/17 Generals and they fit perfect. I rolled the lip on the fender although I probably didn't have to, they just clear the fender, the truck is lowered about 5" in the rear. On the inside there is about 3/4" of clearance but with the solid axle if only one side of the rear goes upwards the wheel also tilts towards the box as it goes up so its nice to have some space on the inside to prevent rubbing. Hope that helps

Re: stepside wheel size
I am pretty partial to the look of a 275/60/15 tire/wheel setup. They fill the wheel wells and don't look real dorky like the 20's some of these guys are running.
