use original glass vs new glass?

Seeking advise. i have my original 67 green tinted glass. its fairly scratched up not too bad but it is 40+ years old. a few deep ones. I am building a fairly thorough 67 gmc short bed. so what would you do. use the original date coded glass thats a little scratched or buy new glass? i realize nobody judges these trucks on date codes in the glass but just interested to hear why you would use either. Rod.

I guess it depends on what you want. I used everything but the windshield. My back window is tinted limo, and the sides are "dark". They look good from 5 feet, but up close, it looks like I tinted them in a dust storm. If you are not tinting, they make polishing kits for glass.

If it looks reasonably good, then I would spend the time polishing to try and save it.

Re: use original glass vs new glass?

i took it to a shop and they said it wouldn't polish up much better than it is. i did use a new windshield as well. i guess what i am getting at is if i replace every aspect of the truck to make it perfect (if there is such a thing) there wont be much of the original truck other than the metal under new paint. would you build it perfect or leave some of the original character of the truck.

You already replaced the windshield, so why not the rest? In the grand sceam of things glass is pretty cheap, and there is nothing like looking through new stuff. I would replace it. WES

I replaced mine a couple of years ago. Make sure they cut it to the right size. Mine is almost a 1/8" smaller than the orignal.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

I would replace. On my '83 K20 I broke the original and when I got new it was night and day better to see out of.
