I haven't seen one btu I did sell a dealer installed a/c interior dash bezel. It had controls and vents made into a non/ac bezel. They had cut and inserted vents by screwing the face of the frame of the vent into the face of the bezel.

Yeah. The controls are where the cubby on a non-AC truck is, or the top vent is on an AC truck.

My truck had an aftermarket a/c system that sucked. It looked stock from the inside. But under the hood it had a huge bracket for the compressor that attached to all kinds of stuff. It was a pain in the @$$ to work on anything on the front of the engine, because you had to remove that bracket. The other part of the system that sucked was the switch inside the dash. It looked like they modified a non-a/c control system, by adding cheap switches that had bad connections and drove me crazy. When my mother first bough the truck they a/c worked well, by the time I got the truck the a/c system was going down hill and causing me headaches. I ripped almost the entire system out. I do not plan on putting in another system, but it gets damn hot here, so I might.

was the compressor a York compressor? Do you still have the brackets?

i THINK MY TRUCK HAD DEALER INSTALLED AIR, BUT I AM NOT 100% SURE. I TOOK MOST OF IT OUT A LITTLE WHILE AGO. IF YOU WOULD LIKE I CAN GET SOME PICS OF THE COMPRESSOR AND THE BRACKETS IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.

Yes it was a york type compressor. I sold the bracket and compressor to another board member awhile back.

I might still have pictures of the bracket though, if it would be helpful in finding one.

If I had to do it again I would make my own bracket that wasnt so big, ugly, and pain in the @$$.

Oh. Thanks Phoenix. I have a bracket set, but it needs to stay on the all original truck. I want to run the York as my air compressor. I might just rob this bracket, and make one. It would be easier if someone had a bracket to sell though. That's why I wondered.

I have a dealer installed A/C unit on a 1977 GMC pickup. Made by ARA. ARA was sold to ACME in 1981 or so. I had a heck of a hard time getting the correct top radiator hose because of the compressor mounting. Finally got 2!! Keep one as a spare!

It has the York compressor. If you need pictures let me know. Seems to be a good system. Had never been serviced in 26 years and did not cool anymore. Pulled a vacuum to look for leaks. Found none. Refilled the system with R-12 and works great!

I think that I saw a set up that may have been delear installed. It looked funny the compressor was on the drivers side the hoses went behind the motor The heater box looked alot diffirent than the other trucks I have seen. The truck was a 4x4 and it had Air and roll down windows and manual locks and no tilt.

clubairth, I have not seen another besides my Grandpa's, and mario, you are right. The hoses go into the firewall just like the heater core. I dunno about the air windows.....that's pretty crazy!

my dad used to have a 73 with a dealer installed air setup.he bought from this old mans widow and the guy bought the truck that way.it had the controls in the cubby hole,gm factory ducting and a really big ass compressor mounted to the front of the engine on the drivers side of the motor if im not mistaken-my memory is a little hazy on this one my dad sold the truck over 5 yrs ago.his never worked worth a damn and the compressor on it finally seized and my dad never repaired it.

I have seen a few, but not any that are going to give up brackets. It should be easy to copy the originals based on what I have seen. Heck like what has been said here, a couple looked like crap to me...
