tonneau cover hinges???

hey guys im building a custom tonneau for my 68 swb and im looking at how to attach the hinges to the bed sides, has anyone built a tonneau cover? or does anyone have some pics of a hinge set up??

I've never built a hinged tonneau. But,I'd build a frame with aluminum stock so it was a free standing unit. Do you want it over the rails or inside? Do you want it flush? Where do you want it to hinge? Front,middle,other?

I made one many years ago. I used barrel bolts mounted on the frame assembly facing the bed rails. I drilled a hole at the front of each bed rail so the barrel would slide into. The bolt inside the hole became the hinge. It was easy to remove the cover since it was just a matter of retracting the bolts and lifting the cover off. I used black vinyl to cover the tonneau cover and had an extra flap of vinyl at the front that snapped to the front bed rail to hide the hinge assembly. No pictures, as I gave it away many years ago.

ive already built the cover. its an aluminum 1x1 frame with 1/8'' aluminium covering that, it sits flush inside the bed rails, im just trying to figure out how to hinge it.
