71 C20 Front Brake Hoses?

I am having a difficult time locating a proper set of replacement front brake lines for 1971 C20 with disc brakes. Most of the parts houses do not even show an application for this part. RockAuto shows AC Delco 18J1837 & 181J836 as correct application. I ordered these and they are 3/4-1" too short?? These also cross reference these same lines as correct for C10 trucks.I have tried Napa and O'Reilly and they pull up the same application. I hate to reinstall the old set of lines but see this as only option at this point. Surely this could not be a discontinued part?? Any advice would be appreciated!!

Re: 71 C20 Front Brake Hoses?

gcburdic, thanks for the bump. I found a set from Classic Parts of America and ordered today. They list separate item #'s for 1/2 & 3/4 ton, a good sign. The major parts houses Napa, O'Reilly etc. do not even show a listing for 3/4 ton. Have my fingers crossed these will work. Will post once I find out.

I am in the same boat as you. I have a 68 C20 converted to disc with 73-87 parts. I got the same hoses from RockAuto as you. But I haven't tried them yet. I guess they'll be a inch to short. The hoses for drums will fit, I have mine in there now.

The set I received from CPA are correct length but I had to do a little bit of grinding on the frame brackets (too thick) to get the U-clip to mount the lines correctly. I am surprised that these are out of circulation from the parts houses and available only through restoration parts vendors.

Re: 71 C20 Front Brake Hoses?

Oh man, this brings back painful memories of when I tried to replace all the rubber brake lines on my 71 c20. Rock auto sent me a rear brake line for a 11,000 rear axle lol. finally got the right one, but could never get the right one for the front, so mine are 2" too long but they work ok and don't rub anything.
