ignition help

Just bought a bezel and it doesn"t go over cylinder.I don"t know if previous po changed ignition or if this will separate.
I have seen separated cylinders and ignition switches.this is on 1966 chevy c-10.

Re: ignition help

Does the cylinder have the key slot cover with a small hole on the front? If so, insert key and turn one position and depress the spring in the small hole w/a paper clip. This willl allow the bezel to go on over the cylinder and them reinstall the cover. If not, please provide a pic of the cylinder so we can try and help you out.

Re: ignition help

you have to take the cylinder out of the ignition housing and screw the housing in with the bezel into the dash and then reinstall the key cylinder....like stated above.

Re: ignition help

step one find off postion:

step two insert key turn to the left to acc. postion! (this takes two hands just using one for picture) insert paper clip/sewing needle in top hole, and while pushing down pin with a spring inside(might take a couple trys to make sure your pushing down the pin, make sure you insert paper clip straight in) turn the switch to the left one more turn and pull out:

vola!!! put the bezel and housing in dash and then reinsert key cylinder and turn to the right:

sometimes reinstalling the key cylinder into key housing you have to use the opposite/other hole and push the pin down while turning right to get it to go back in

hope that helps!

Re: ignition help

It does look like you don't have the correct plug for the back of the switch.
