Yes it made me cry

Saturday I decided to do the salvage yard crawl (I recycle parts as I have to do my build on a budget). Happen to see this truck sitting right up front. No they won't sell the whole vehicle. Yes it will get crushed. The seller couldn't have gotten more than $300.00 for it. Well the good thing is that I can use the rear bumper brackets. Plan to go back and get those in a few days.

I still do not understand why we keep getting these posts and the dealers will not sell it for more than the crushed value or what they think the parts are worth. It's in the open, back up a wrecker and tow it away. Sounds like a ploy to jack up the price.

Did they give you a price on the metal (doors and fenders) and the grille and bumper?

That is why I was asking, I would do that.

How does cutting up the cab work in the yard? Can you cut it up and take it?

They're not in bad shape and I did think about getting them so that I can get rid of my vent window.

I didn't ask them about this one but on other vehicles (yes they have had more than one like this in the last 2 years that I've been going there). Most parts were 50-75 dollars.

Although I have thought about pulling the cab off the frame and getting the fenders, doors and frame. Last time I talked to them they'd do that for a little over what they can sell it for (about $12 - $15 per 100 pounds). They can't sell the cab though because they don't have a title.

Re: Yes it made me cry

Is that a State law (title issue)? I have bought vehicles and motorcycles from dealers and repair shops with only a bill or sale that disclosed it was for parts only and did not come with a title. More legwork for the buyer but not illegal unless they are worried about the legality of the original transaction.

Re: Yes it made me cry

I was thinking the same. My dad bought a 1980 enduro without a title. It was a pain in the ass to get it on the road, but the p.o. didn't have to do anything with it.

Hey jmsaunders, it says that you live in Lebanon, is that Lebanon, Missouri? Is that where this salvage yard is located?? I would love any info on it since we live in St. Robert and are looking to go to a few salvage yards in next couple weeks. Thank you

I would be more than happy to do that for you. Are you talking about the one on the pillar where the door closes?
