on-door weatherstrips lmc installation? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I ordered new weatherstrips all round the car, including new vent kits, etc...

tonight I tried installing the on-door weatherstrip from LMC #38-6948 on the LH door. (nr2 in the picture)

There is no way I can find places to attach the ends? anybody ever installed these?

flipped them to see if that would be a better fit:

i cut those pieces off and just glued it on but i really dont know what im doing

haha...I did... the old ones didnt have them and those are just noise reducer strips... Of course I only got one on before my sealeant tube blew up on me...

ow cool!...wel not the tube, but that you DID!

thats why I bought them...I hope too loose the noise from the wind by installing those on the door.

got any pics...that would help a lot

worn hinge pins also make allot of noise driving my truck at highway speeds is like sitting in the middle of a tornado

no pics...but the idented part goes down in the indention of the door below the screw..You have it facing wrong if you know what I mean...So it should angle out towards the cab..... angled like this /....

pic one is right except it needs to be turned right 90 degrees...

how do you know this? by trial and error?

because I have gotten not any instructions, not found any on the net on putting these strips on the door.

mine had them on stock...I just replicated what was on there.....And i saw a few threads doing the same.. It also makes sense though..Its flared out to create a tighter seal at the top so air doesnt get in.... I will try to take a pic tonight and post for you

The inner strips were only used from 1979-1981. Your Suburban is newer I believe?

my 81 silverado had those.
when i ordered the replacements a couple of years ago from LMC - they didn't have the metal ends to screw them in like yours do! just glue on.
agree on the way they are installed. metal ends flat, oriented as noted on the red truck.
