3" drop front coil spring , what do you think?

I know the best way to go will be drop spindle with 1" drop coil but i'm on a budget and drop spindle for c20 are expensive and i want to keep the 8 lugs. I'm looking at the 3/4 drop kit with shocks from cpp. Does anybody running this kit? How bad is the ride with 3" drop coil in the front and what about alignement issues.

Just my opinion: 3 inches is a fair amount to drop the front end, especially on a 3/4 ton pickup. It will affect tire wear most likely, and ride quality will suffer, but steering and handling shouldn't be too bad. Lots of people drop 3/4 tons, but honestly, it would make more sense to find a nice half ton if you're looking to drop it a little. Just my opinion. Hope it works for you.

I've seen several on here complain about the spring falling out of place when the front is jacked up with excessive drop springs. probably lot harder to align i would do it right with spindles in my op.

I put 3" springs in a 1/2 ton suburban a few years ago; rode nicely and aligned just fine.

Question.... Would the mechanics be much different on C10 verses C20?

Sometimes taking a short cut will work and other times it does't.

Best of luck in your project.

Re: 3" drop front coil spring , what do you think?

my last project I did 3" front springs and it took lots of shims to align the front end and it would bottom out on rough roads due to the loss of suspension travel, they did get it aligned and drove ok on smooth roads.

I works for the drop effect but the spring will fall out or out of place when you jack it up and the tire will wear out on the outter 2"' or so. Put the money in a nice big set of tires and wheels to fill the wheel well and forget the drop.
