60-62 gauges
I was wondering does any one know what voltage gauges where stock in 60 model halfton trucks 6 volt or 12 volt. Also does any one know somebody who can rebuild the factory gauges since these gauges are virtually impossible to find any where.

Re: 60-62 gauges
I have a 1960 1/2 ton truck and I'm debating whether to take a chance with the currently working stock gauges in my truck or go new school. I have an LS motor and a 4L80E tranny so it make sense to change but the original gauges are too cool to give up on. 2 things are messing with my plans. The converter to go from electrical output on the tranny to mechanical speedo is about $500. The other issue is amp gauges can be dangerous so I would like to convert to a Battery gauge but no one makes the lense for a battery gauge....heck, there aren't any made for the amp gauge either. My truck is 12 volt and I'm sure they all were in 1960. If you have the generator charging system and it's not working properly you may need to put a momentary jumper on the regulator.

Re: 60-62 gauges
64-66 clusters and gauges are way different. What are you trying to accomplish? If you just want new gauges watch ebay, there are always some nos on there to fit your panel. If you are trying to change out from idiot lights then look for a cluster for 60-63 chev trucks.

Re: 60-62 gauges
Check out my build thread.. I went through the trouble of having the speedo rebuilt short lived after that.. I bought the DD VHX set up, looks great and works.. There are used clusters for sale but most from what I saw where in rough shape.. The bushing in the speedo is a common issue.. Was told it can be repaired, they did it lasted less than 5000 miles and failed again.. dont re build speedos for a living so have no idea what is still out there for parts, or if they are making them or adapting something else to work.

Re: 60-62 gauges
The guages can still be found pretty affordable. I keep a full extra set on hand, but haven't had any issues w/my factory guages. The last set I picked up was only $40 for all for guages.

Re: 60-62 gauges
We have had good luck with having the speedos rebuilt. The main thing is to be sure that the rebuilder is reputable and uses quality parts!

Re: 60-62 gauges
I took mine out and used CLR to clean up the connections and also tried cleaning the guages themselves. It seemed to help a bit, but the guages are just worn, so I'm in the same boat. I'm thinking about going custom just making my own bezel or modify the stock bezel.
