Price to narrow rear end?

Im going to run 15" wide wheels, and obviously the rear is gonna have to be narrowed. No sure how much but im using a ford 9inch. The place my dad used to have them done went out of business.

Anyone have an idea of about how much it would costs? And also if anyone knows of a good shop around here (houston, TX) that could do it id appreciate it!
Thanks.

Re: Price to narrow rear end?

just guessing $ 700.00 to narrow housing and buy new axles .less if you had your old axles shortened and re-splined. moser engineering , can shorten axles and respline or sell you housing and axles . might check with them.

If you're not in a hurry, you might try S.O.M. School of Machinist there in Huston. They may give you a price break since it would be used for a training aid.

Re: Price to narrow rear end?

couple of different places:
Pyle Brothers in Baytown - affordable and very knowledgeable, I recommend these guys

Houston Ring and Pinion up on North Shephard - expensive, but excellent to deal with

Re: Price to narrow rear end?

We shorten axles, shorten housings, redrill and plug, build our own housings ,sell new axles for any vehicle etc.
Just remember if shortening your exist 12 bolt rear end you should go 3.5/8" shorter minimum or else you will have the end of your spline not in spec. about 1/4 to 5/16". they will still work but I would not do it. if your axles are not reduced at spline then you are ok but most are reduced.

Pyle Brothers and Houston R & P only do the housings. they do not have the 5 0r 6 axis machine used to respline. They send the axles off to Moser Engineering to be done. We are the cheapest company doing this work in Houston and for that matter in Texas.

Re: Price to narrow rear end?

We have decided to know longer support this forum any longer due to 68 short step. He wants to continue this fued over one bad order and he recieved his money back. You know absolutely nothing about me or our company other then the one order you complained about. Is this really worth it Don. I am sorry you won't give up the bitterness you feel. I really do. How many years are you going to persist??? I truly feel for you. You seem to want to keep this going well i am too tired of him so we decided to quit the forum
