What is the best intake and head setup for Torque?
I want monstrous low end torque up to around 3k. Are there heads and Intake setup that can do this for me? Id even be willing to do a cam.

I would go with Pro TopLine 180's along with a Performer RPM Air-Gap intake with a WELL-TUNED Holley 750.

I was actually planning on going with the Edelbrock Performer heads on my 87 vette...but then found out that the Pro TopLine's are the same runner size (180) and flow WAAAY better.
BTW: What intake is that mike? |

My guess is either 180cc AFR's or ETEC 170's with a edelbrock performer or EPS manifold.

I went with them 'cause of the torque the "lesser" flow/higher speeds allows. The intake is a NOS Holley copy of the 1969 Camaro Z/28 dual plane. (300-36) |

for big torque on a small money bugdet, i'd stick with a set of TBI heads or Vortecs. i know there are better heads out there, but for the money, its pretty hard to beat those 2 heads, since you can find them all over the junkyards.

that's what I was going to say... a set of SDPC modified Vortec heads will reun about $680, and get a good dual plane intake with the right mounting pattern, self aliging rockers, and bolt/gasket kit....should be in the neighborhood of around $900. Check out www.sdpc2000.com as I think they have package pricing to save some $$$ also.

I agree with Mike about the Edelbrock performer heads. They make torque right outta the hole.
