Exhaust problems, advice please...
Ok, I disconnected the passenger exhaust manifold from the block and pipe, to paint the engine. Now that's done and the exhaust manifold is bolted back on the block, I can't seem to get the exhaust pipe back on (one stud seems to be crooked) so, the triangle plate (bear with me, not sure what its called) will not fit back on under the heat riser. What am I doing wrong here?
And as always many thanks in advance for advice. Getting too much attention starting up like this, lol. Also, cracked off my temp sender on the block, didn't work anyway. How difficult is it to replace? Where to find a quality replacement? 84 305/350 dual straight pipes Posted via Mobile Device |

Lucky you usually the studs that connect the pipe to that manifold are frozen enough to snap every time. So I guess its hammer time ( haha) and hour local auto parts stir can get you a new temp sender

Re: Exhaust problems, advice please...
do you still run a y-pipe?.....if so try lossening the nuts on the driver side that hold the pipe that may give you some slack on other side.

Re: Exhaust problems, advice please...
why dont you try and hook the pipe up to the manifold first losely, then try to the block.
it might make it easier to move the manifold to the pipe to alighn the bolts. |

Re: Exhaust problems, advice please...
^ tried that was actually harder. Going to just break the crooked stud off, and connect. As its just temp until I get some ram horns.
Many thanks to everyone for their time/advice. Posted via Mobile Device |
