Question No C-Notch, How Low???

Like the title asks, how low could I go without cutting/notching the frame on a 2wd.

Re: No C-Notch, How Low???

I had a 4/6 and it worked just fine. I never bottomed it out. Works fine on these south Texas roads.

Re: No C-Notch, How Low???

I have 4" drop springs and 1 3/4" blocks in back of a factory 2wd, that leaves me 1 1/2-3/4 between diff and frame; it bottoms out LOTS and may get a notch yet!

Same as El Campo here. Early Classic 4/6 drop on my C-10, no C notch, and never bottomed out yet.

Re: No C-Notch, How Low???

I'm not sure if there's any difference between a truck and blazer frame...

Re: No C-Notch, How Low???

I had a 4/6 on mine without a c-notch when I bought it. It bottomed out on me twice with no one in the back, but with passengers back there it happened a lot more often.

Re: No C-Notch, How Low???

Hmm interesting. Maybe there is more difference in the truck to blazer frames than I realized. I too have the ECE 4/6. I ended up C notching mine recently anyways. Used a piece of pipe to do it as I don't like the homemade looking ones that you buy that you bolt or weld in.

Re: No C-Notch, How Low???

I think it has to do more with weight rather than dimensions. I had the top on when it bottomed out with no passengers (and a fairly big bump while getting on the freeway), and then after that had about 350 lbs of guys right over the axel...I'm sure if you did that with a truck you'd be in the same boat.
