62' Burb
Just picked up an all original burb friday, 235 three on the tree pretty solid but I need lower quarter patch panels. Are the lower fleetside bed patches the same as the burbs ? I would like to replace the fenders to how do the aftermarket fenders fit would save alot of time installing new ones. Thanks in advance for the info.

congrats on the new burb, I'm sure everyone would love some pics when you get a chance....
hopefully this link helps, it talks a little about what can be used for the rear burb quarter panels for patching/replacing http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...an+rear+fender from all the info on here, original parts seem to be alot better quality and fit than the new patch panels offered, so if you can find a burb or a short fleet bed for patch panels, it may be worth it....if you can bring yourself to cutting them up..... |

WOW! that is some great info, would have never believed it. Thanks Radohound.
Ill try to get some pics up of it. She is a little rough around the edges but all there and I got a 61 GMC parts Burb with it. I really wanted to build the GMC but its to far gone. I have a shortened 72 chassis with leafs, do you guys think that would make a better chassis since the back of these seem so heavy? Thanks MikeS there is alot of great info that has helped me on my 71 GMC on this site. |

IMO the coil springs have no problem on the rear of a Burb. But if that chassis is what you have to use, then by all means. However keep in mind that you will have to to some fabrication for the body mounts. Not just because it is a Burb, but because it is a '62 which sits on a wider frame than the '63-'73 trucks.

Welcome to the funnyfarm. I am working on a 66 panel. For the wheelwell opening I used arepair panel for a longbox pickup,only one I could find. I had to take about 2 inches out of the center of the wheel opening. The rear part of the panel is different than the pickup,I used parts of arepair panel for 73-87 pickup. In front of th panel I was able to use a unversal rocker panel piece. The hard part is going to be making the repair panels on the inside of the side panel. But don't panic ,just take your time and make some patterns and transfer that to metal. It's just a big jigsaw puzzle. Have fun. Gord

Thanks for the encouragement dawg, I'm pumped about getting started but have a 62' short stepper to do first. The burb has code 519 paint code which is yuma yellow i think, was that a normal color or more for schools or railroads?

We may be working on twins. Mine was a Dept. of Highways truck,haven't found the paint code yet ,but it's just a bit darker than schoolbus yellow.

The body mounts are also different in some locations. check sizes of holes in frame cab bolts are same as pickups but rear mounts are different due to "step" in front of 2nd row seats. Very hard to find mounts, 69's fit but need adapting.

dthela, do you have any GMC grilles? I have a 61 parts burb and it has the big hump hood but no grille. The hood is nice and those are my favorite so thought I might switch over the chebby if i could find a grille.
