Got rid of the chains
I've been wanting to get rid of the tailgate chains for awhile now. Stumbled across a set of Ranchero hinges for $1 on Ebay so I figured I'd play aound with it to see how they'd work. After alot of trial & error, here's the end result.

Great job, I love it when a very affordable alternative shows up.

Re: Got rid of the chains
Love it.
Now when you open and close the tailgate do those arms scrape against with the bedsides or the gate? Will you paint or plate those arms? |

Re: Got rid of the chains
No, I put a washers behind the arms to prevent rubbing the besides. I'll eventually paint them.
