Wanting to lower my 72 would not rather c notch if I dont have to was wanting to use drop spindles up front how low can i lower the rear and look right and what about track bar any suggestions. What I have been reading if you lower it 4 inches or more in the rear you have to c notch

Nate's truck has a 4.5/6 ECE drop kit.
NO c-notch.
Anything over a 4" rear drop would require a set of shock relocators and an adjustable track bar.

If you have leaf springs, instead of coils.....notching is what you may have to do. If you have trailing arms, and coils....then you may also want to see their crossmember that also raises the mounting point for the 2-pc driveshaft center u-joint...or just gives you more room for your 1-piece driveshaft so it doesn't hit the crossmember.

Look at www.earlyclassic.com and they have pix of lowered vehicles, at various heights, plus some customers' trucks.

Leaf spring trucks can also be lowered with the use of dropped leaf springs, and/or drop shackles.
ECE sells them.
Or check out www.performanceonline.com for drop leaf springs and other quality drop components.

Thinking about doing this on my truck. Would like to avoid having to c-notch the rear. I looked at the build post and from the pics there is only 2 or 3 inches clearance between the axle and frame. How much clearance is needed before you should c-notch?

If you have coils you can go 6-1/2 in the rear with no c-notch 6 inch coils and 1/2" lowering block. No problems unless you plan on putting weight in the back.

Thanks original-71. My truck has leaf springs but I have a set of 4" drop de-arched springs and 2" drop shackles which would put me at about 6" rear drop. Nice to know I won't need to c-notch the frame.
