Did you get what you expected out of that? How do you like it?

Re: pic's of new seat and column
special-k :yes the column drop further into the dash gives a lot more belly room, and i think a more comfortable arm position while driving....and the back of the seat can have a little more padding ....i tried to post pic's on the other tread i started and was not able to....i used three different seats to make one...it was quite a chore...but i think it turned out ok....

any way I was curious cause I would think that without ps the shorter colum wouldnt give as much leverage to crank on the wheel. with the ps I'm sure it doesnt matter.

Re: pic's of new seat and column
on ole dollar the old steering gear had been run without any oil for no telling how long..i was having trouble driving it, i filled it up with amsoil gear lube and jb 80 spray to make the gears slicker....it did help ... it drove a little better. until i took the gear box off to put the power steering box on , i did not know that it would only turn a little left and right without binding up...you could not turn it all the way any direction with out a pipe wrench...i am not sure if all our year models manual steering boxes were hard to turn when working right....my son has a 1963 c-10 that drives easy, even at slow speeds you can steer it with the palm of one hand....maybe the 60's trucks just steered easier , anyone else have a real hard steering truck, might want to check their gear box.

Re: pic's of new seat and column
It could be someone has tightened the adjustment screw to much causing the sector to bind up that way. Power is better anyway. Looks good. What are the seat and column out of?

Re: pic's of new seat and column
boog : the steering column is the original one ...i just moved it into the dash about 2 1/2 " ....now the seat was a different story, a friend gave me a seat he thought was from and international pickup with brand new seat covers. he had had it a while and was not sure, so i took the original seat that came out of ole dollar and a seat out of a 1985 gmc pickup and the I H seat and took them all apart. i took the bottom of the I H seat and put on top of my old seat frame. that made the bottom, then i took the foam out of the 85 gmc seat back and put it on my seat back. i put the 85 gmc seat cover back on and then took the new seat cover and put it on the part i had put together ....that made the seat back....put it back in ole dollar and bolted it all together, i was not easy but i think it looks good, now i am going to have to make gray and gold match together, with my maroon shoulder belts. next paint the door panels and arm rest to match the inside....any ideas would be welcome on what colors would look ok, gray seats ,brown carpet, black steering wheel, gold cab. what color goes with these....

Re: pic's of new seat and column
Seat fitment and padding looks good. As far as the cab colors are concerned you can do a lot with rattle cans in there.
