Lokar column shift linkage...halp!

I need some help in figuring where the aluminum column A-shaped bracket is supposed to point in relavence to the cable...

1980 K10, 3" body lift, tilt steering column from a 79, th400 tranny and lots of headache!
/cry

1. The instructions call for drilling linkage tab that sticks out of the column and installing a brass looking crescent shaped bracket...only the tab on mine is short and there's hardly room to drill one hole let alone a second one.

2. The A-shape aluminum bracket's mounting surface is too wide (flops around on column) by I may be able to shim it with some rubber hose or something...

3. There is no instructions on where to point said aluminum bracket. Does it point to 5 o'clock? 7 o'clock? 2 o'clock??
I've googled pictures of it, but there's no clear instructions and I can't reach from 3-7 o'clock because I'm hitting the bottom of the firewall...

Either I'm not under standing these directions properly, this kit isn't designed for trucks because of the limited space from end of column to the firewall, or I'm missing some sorta insider tip on how to assemble this thing.....

So I should mount my steering column in upside down in order to get that tab on the driver's side instead of the passenger side...? 0_o

Rede,
Give us a call here at Lokar. There are a couple different sizes of columns so we offer a few options of kits. Call out tech department Toll Free at 1-877-469-7440

Re: Lokar column shift linkage...halp!

I may just have to. /sigh

Problem is that I paid $191 to get this kit shipped from Summit and the desciption says 5' cable...I need 6" because of my body lift, so I ordered the replacement " 6' " cable for another $91.

I open the boxes up 10 days later and BOTH kits ar 6' cables with the same part number and either I order the wrong kit, or this kit does not work with my steering column...

Another thing I noticed is that all the pics of this kit installed on pickups, they're welded a plate in to surround the stearing column where it goes through the firewall instead of using the factory 2 piece cover.

Is this because of the clearance issues, or for some other bizzar reason...?

I'll try again this weekend/next week I guess.......
