LOL sam im sorry to make light of your situation here but i have the same thing with my son; hes 16 and all of a sudden has started smokng cigarettes, pot, cutting classes , and was busted for smoking in school in a bathroom. We were building a 1976 c10 for him, but between that and his general ****ty all around attitude ive decided to scrap the truck and sell off what parts i can ( i have over $1000 into this with parts alone, and we hardly beagan to work on it) I find it ammusing yet im glad to see that yet another parent is doin what i am doin. Good luck with your son and in selling your truck
by the way it sounds like a real nice truck got pics?

I don't have picture at this time, I will try and post some later this week. Rusty c-10 you know we have to do what we have to do. I hated to have to do this, this truck was his pride and joy. It turned his world upside down when I broke the news to him, but in my oppinion, they learn through consiquences.

Sam's72,
I don't have kids of my own, but I do know that learning early that actions always have consequences and bad actions produce undesireable consequences isn't a bad thing. Tough love is a necessity sometimes. I wish you well.

Sam, just a dumb idea... do you have any place you could hide the truck? if so, have someone come and "buy" it, and take it to the designated hiding spot. leave it there for a while to see if he comes around, if not, inform him that you had given him a chance to change, bring the truck back and sell it for real. i know it would've worked for me.

I really agree with 1faastc10, he will most likely come around when its actually gone (what he thinks anyway).. and being a kid myself, sometimes taking stuff away will just make things worse then they already are.

Bring it to the shop and leave it for a while. I'll play like I bought it and you can park it in back. I did that with one of my son's. It worked Great. lmk Scott

I've gotta tell you, if someone took my rust bucket away, I would would never forgive them... Would teach me a heck of a lesson though :P

I would be really really happy if my truck ended up coming back to me later on

This post sent chills down my back. I can't imagine my dad taking my truck and selling it. I be crushed.... but i was crushed when my dad sold my Cutlass and I told him to do it. I'd say
"sell it" to someone you know and than if he comes around and straightens out. I'm glad the friends I have that do dumb **** don't try to make me do it.

I think it's just "KIDS" today. My oldest, though he's 18, still drives a truck in my name. I dont hesitate to let him know that the WR on the title stands for William Ray....NOT William Robert. It does get his attention when I act that way...then again, sometimes it just gets worse. My youngest has the 70 GMC, and though he's not driving yet, Ive had to make the threat to sell it.

What I wonder is...HOW did MY DAD keep me in line? I know...had I talked to him like mine do me sometimes....I'd STILL be ROLLIN'!!!
Good Luck Sam!!!
