filler neck?
Bought a new filler neck, hose, grommet, and cap. got it all together, but could not get in there to tighten the clamps. would it be better, to slide the tank over to the passenger side, put it all together, slide it back then put the grommet on?

Re: filler neck?
I like to install the filler neck grommet, than the filer neck, filler neck hose and then tank, which is easiest if tank is out. I have replaced the hoses w/tanks in and its just a time consuming and tediuos task as there isn't much room to work. But it is possible. If you have the option of sliding the tank, I think this will be your best route. My truck is a dialy driver and usually full of fuel, so when I replaced the hose on the latest 63, I did it w/tank in stock location and just used plenty of time a four letter words to get the filler hose in. A little dish soap on the filler neck grommet will help slide the filler tube in.

Re: filler neck?
1963c-10 is correct...done a few already..I used long 1/4 extensions, ratchet, and socket for easier installation..

Re: filler neck?
Mine is around 3/8" -1/2" above the gasket. I went to a locking gas cap also, due to the thefts in our area with fuel.

Re: filler neck?
You need to look at the factory assembly instruction or you'll end up installing the tank 3 times like I did because you’ll leave yourself too short on the gas neck filler. IF you do not have one I'll try to copy the page. The measurements are important, t took me three tries to get it right. All becasue I did not pay attention to the measurements - uh duh.

Re: filler neck?
Ok I took a cell pictures of the page you can;t read the numbers too good, but the total length from the tank top to the filler top is 12.56"
FROM the botton of the rubber filler hose to the top of the metal filler neck is 7.56" YOu measure and put the parts together then tighten the down the upper most clam band you probally can't reach once installed, so measure set and tighten it good. The lower band clamp you wwill be able to reach so snug down good get the tank in place and then tighten it down good. Ready to go.
