Is my master cylinder bleed?

I have bench bleeding it for a while, my first time ever doing so. I just have the plastic plugs in the ports that came with the master. I have the front reservoir pushing up fluid and the back reservoir with out bubbles.

Just wondering if the rear one should shoot up fluid like the front on?

Re: Is my master cylinder bleed?

You got a pic?
Bench bleeding means hooking up lines from the two ports and dumping them back into the reservoir.
If you've got the plastic plugs in then it won't be bled right.
Like in this pic.

Re: Is my master cylinder bleed?

An old timer that I work with said it would do the same thing. He looked in the box and said oh you have plugs that will work.

Re: Is my master cylinder bleed?

bleeding means you are trying to remove the air from the master cylinder

plugs will in no way shape or form allow any air out of the master cylinder

Re: Is my master cylinder bleed?

Yes it will. The new instruction sets included with new MCs describe bench bleeding with plugs only. I the bubbles will come out on the back stroke. I have done the job both ways. The plugs are a little less messy. Old school vs. New school. Both work, but I was very skeptical at first, so I tried it.

Yes, I do read the instructions. The points I loose on my man card are made up for in the "did it right the first time" section.

Re: Is my master cylinder bleed?

Ok thank you, the instructions said to use them. My only question is should the rear resevoir push up fluid like the front on is doing? There is no air bubbles coming out at them moment.

Re: Is my master cylinder bleed?

I prefer to bleed into a glass jar. Easy to see the bubbles, and no chance them making it back into the cylinder.

Re: Is my master cylinder bleed?

The reservoir for the rear brakes will not usually squirt up like the res for the front brakes.

The plugs work fine to get air out, they just take a little longer.

Re: Is my master cylinder bleed?

I also used the plugs to bench bleed mine and my pedal is nice and firm.
