Well you could always rework your blazer, that way you'd have a project and a nice Blazer to drive around.

X2 Fuel injection, overdrive, power disks, softer ride, comes to mind.

I did think that I could get engine from later model truck, 5.3 with stock fuel injection. I have a Tahoe that is super ride and I entertained thoughts of that engine in the Blazer... They do make the parts to marry all that up don't they?

They sure do, just do your research then tackle the job. Build the engine while you drive the Blazer then make the swap, almost like a complete new project but you get to keep your nice Blazer (if that makes sense).
