Panels wooden floor replacement

Can the plywood rear floor be replace with oak flooring like in pickups. Im wantint to replace mine althought it has no rotten ares. Amazing the lowers have been gone but the plywood is still solid as can be..

I would like to use oak or if could find Brazillian Cherry and have the hold down strips chromed, guessing they are not same as PU. I found a piece of brazialian Cherry cpl years ago and last year got bored and made this stock out of half of it and its freaking gorgeous wood.

Re: Panels wooden floor replacement

Pretty sure one could do what you want, but I would use a 3/8 ply for the bottom as the base.

If you made a rifle stock (beauty of a stock by the way), I am sure you could do all the work to make it right.

Is this for a burb or a panel?

Re: Panels wooden floor replacement

I would bet you could at the very least use to plywood floor as a base for putting down a lament floor like in a house if not pergo so it can contract and expand with the weather. I am thinking about doing it on my 69 3 door and see what happens sounds like a good idea anyway but we'll see.

Re: Panels wooden floor replacement

From the looks of the picture with that rifle, you have wood floors already. Maybe not in your panel, but somewhere. Like Olharleyman said, and like I'm gonna do...lay down some Laminate. Home Depot or Lowes have about 100 different types and textures to choose from. I'm sure you can find a match for what you're looking for. I know it's not real, but it can look good. One member on here did it and he said it 'squeaks' but maybe with some extra laminate underfoam it might not be bad. I got some faux Brazilian 2-tone wood laminate from Ikea that I'm going to put in my Burb. I'm going to use extra foam under it and put a few dabs of clear silicone in the joints to help dampen any squeaks that may form.

Re: Panels wooden floor replacement

Ok look at the wood instock . Im true lover of hardwoods oak, walnut, cherrys and such.I put hardwoods in some homes mine has those damn lamanets and not going in my panel. Yea lot cheaper but this is not going to be cheap project when done.Lots of custom desing work already in makings. I might have to step down to oak from the brazailan cherry I want. But that about as far as I entend to go.

I wondering if it can be installed sameway as truck. If need a bottom like plywood why can't I just use metal maybe reverse ribbed (for strength)aluminum that could be painted under side.

Re: Panels wooden floor replacement

no not wood floors laminate when built house was surpose to sell but then osama took office and the fall out from clinton policy of everyone gets house loan reguardless had already happened. Ended up moving into house in order to try to save company and my butt. If built it for my self it would have had hardwoods.
