The chrome bumper on my 1986 K30 is showing it's age and starting to show that hazy cloudy look though is in good shape. I'd like to have something a little better looking and trying to decide if I should just buy one of the new repoduction triple chrome plated (5 yrs warranty) bumpers (I hear are not as heavy duty) or rechome the one I have on the truck.

Has anyone tried the bumpers and what are the thoughts on how good/bad they are and hold up.

get a repop from lmc or classicparts. put a nice coat of wax and it will shine for years too come

Unless you know some reputable chrome shops, you might have a hard time getting a good chrome job done to your original bumper anyhow. They dont do the copper coat here in Kansas, due to regulations, for example, and its crap, cant get any decent chrome. Your location may vary.

I have a repo front bumper from J.C. Whitney that is over 15 years old and looks brand new.

15 years old? I would put money that it was probably made in the usa if its that old
