Re: Need advice on engine replacement....

May have a change in plans now. LOL. I am thinking about going with http://www.jegs.com/i/GM+Performance...30282/10002/-1

I have been talking with Brian at Harris Performance. He says the above engine with the GM Performance intake manifold is by far the most popular engine he burns new computer chips for, and the performance is hands down better than the stock replacement. I am thinking this may be the best bet for the money. The engines are the same cost. ONly additional cost would be the programming. Thoughts????

Thats a good choice! It will definitely be a strong engine for your truck. For the money, it is hard to get a better flowing of heads than what comes on this engine. Should be fun!

Re: Need advice on engine replacement....

No worries man. Its still a pretty good additional cost over a stock replacement. Intake manifold is $370 and the programming is $320. So basically cost an additional 700 bucks. Just have to make sure the budget can take that.

Re: Need advice on engine replacement....

Keep us updated on your progress, That engine you chose will run awesome with a different chip. My 87 came alive after a chip was installed. better idle and smother overall performance.

Do some searching after you get it up and running, there are some things you can add to make it perform better than stock.

*TBI spacer
*injector spacer
*updated Prom/Chip
*adjustable fuel pressure regulator(TBI's love a little more fuel pressure than stock)
