My new Custom 10

Well after a year of being on this site I finally bought my first truck It is a 1972 all original Custom 10 with 70,047 miles. It has the original 350/350th with a motor minder, its in pretty good shape for a rust belt truck It has 3 small holes in the floor and no floor supports left and some surface rust but the original Paint is in good shape

Floor supports are wayyyy overrated.

What are your plans for it?

Re: My new Custom 10

Plans are get the floor supports, fixed patch the cab (maybe bed if they catch the bad support) , get it inspected and drive cuz then I am out of cash

My parents have other plans they want me to sell it and lease a new 2012 truck

Sounds sorta like the beginning of the movie Christine. ( Just because of the whole parents thing. ) It wasn't some creepy old guy in a back brace selling it to you was it.

It looks cool and sounds like a great start. The best part of this truck is that there are no mile restrictions and no lease payments. As well as not being out the money you paid to lease it for 2-3 years without owning it in the end.

Cool truck. Just remember, these old trucks only increase in value. 2012 trucks will only decrease. Just driving it off the lot you'll probably lose a few G's.

What's a motor minder. I see some kind gauge on your center dash panel.

Re: My new Custom 10

Thank for the re welcome 70 cst. I am not parting with this truck any time soon. I think the motor minder is like a vacuum gauge but its cool and it can stay!

Re: My new Custom 10

I didn't know what a motor minder was either but I found several on eBay.

Re: My new Custom 10

the truck is not all that clean I don't have a straight panel in sight and I got floor rust under the gas tank, by the high beam switch and a spot on the passenger side and I dont have anyplace to fix it so I have to take it to a shop
I payed $3000 for the truck and after gas and fees I ended up paying $3190 which is not bad and my insurance is not bad its $97 a month (my buddy has a 92 ranger v6 4x4 and pays $140)

Man, well when I got my truck you could stick your entire head through the floor board. One thing is for sure, the worse it is when you start, the more you appreciate it when it's done. Plus if you found a cherry rust free truck then you wouldn't get learn the fabrication portion of the build

Re: My new Custom 10

I have no place to build it though, my step dads spare car was in the shop so he let me park my "rust bucket" there so I have to out source the body work or move out
