Spark plug wires with HEI and headers
I am putting the motor in my truck and need some new spark plug wires. I have a 350 with an HEI distributor and headers. Should I use 90 degree plug boots, or what? I think it would make sense to get a universal kit that I can tailor the length of the wires, but wasn't sure about the boots.
Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Spark plug wires with HEI and headers
I have a very similar set up. I'm running MSD part number 31763. I run them down the back side of the block, across near the oil pan and up to the plugs. I run the front two between the block and the motor mounts. Keeps them out of the way and looks clean.

Re: Spark plug wires with HEI and headers
So they run behind the headers, or underneath?

Re: Spark plug wires with HEI and headers
So the spark plug boots are 90 degree angle ones?

Re: Spark plug wires with HEI and headers
They have to be... or you'll burn them on the headers regrdless of which way you route them.

Re: Spark plug wires with HEI and headers
Your welcome. Hope all goes well with your build. One extra tip, keep the number 5 & 7 wires separated. As they fire next to each other in the firing order they can cross fire causing an annoying miss.

Re: Spark plug wires with HEI and headers
Back in the day, silicone plug wires were strongly recommended with headers because of the added heat. Is that no longer the case or do all of them have silicone jackets?

Re: Spark plug wires with HEI and headers
I need wires asap. I am running a Chevy small block with headers.. I notice some boots are straight and some are 90 degrees... I want to run them over the valve cover, can i still use 90 degrees on all eight?
