Does anyone make these?
I took the cab off my 67 and moved it into my garage. What I fouund was a very bad floor.I had cut some of the rust out and replaced it from the top.I didn't know it was this bad though.
First of all there is a piece of metal that goes from the front cab mount and all the way back.I am not sure what it is called.Well this was completly rotted out.So I removed all the spot welds and took it off. Also the front passenger side cab mount was shot.I am pretty sure I can make something to work.I have a mig welder and a plasma cutter and all the metal I would ever need.I would like to keep it somewhat original looking under there though.Instead of a cobbled togother mess. I also might be looking for a 67 cab also. This is pretty bad.I want the small back window. But this is going to be a pita! So does anyone make the peice I am talking about.

I'm not sure exactly what piece you are needing, but most everything that rusts away on these trucks is available through at least one of the vendors on this board.

I think what you are referring to is the Outrigger it goes from the front cab support to the rear cab support. And yes they do make the part!

The piece I am referring to is like c channel.I would say it is 2.5 inchs tall. And goes from the front cab mount to the back of the cab.It is so rusted away on both sides I don't know where it is supposed to go.I will look at my 69 tommorow and check it out.
I will also have to call up ECE and talk to them and see if they have it.I am hoping to get the floor done in a couple weeks.I am going to buy a 5 lug disk long bed complete rolling chassis. And put it on that. I hope this thing turns out nice.I am putting alot of work into it. It should be worth it though the first time I go

You are going to have to get that piece of metal off of another cab. They arent all that common to rot out and no replacements are being made.

I am understanding that the piece he needs is the beam that runs parallel to the door.

If all else failt, cut the piece off of a junkyard truck.
If it is the piece i'm thinking about, i have never seen one rust out....might be able to weld in some small angle iron though and have it look OK....

They ARE labelled "Outriggers" in the LMC catalog, and LMC has them for abotu $10 a piece. I even have a pair I have to return because I ended up not needing them, so I know they DO exist.

palallin, thanks for clearing that up for me, that is what I thought they were but I don't guess anyone was listening to me. I looked under my truck and that was the only thing I saw even remotely close to what he was talking about!

The outrigger is a brace under the floor pan. The channel he is referring to is almost directly over the frame rail, and no it isn't produced. C-tenkid...I wouldn't worry too much about how the under side looks. The important issue is the strength, and alignment of the replacement piece. If you cut out a lot of the floor when the cab is not mounted, it can spread, and not fit well once put back on a frame. Either make a jig to hold it in spec, or save the final welding till it's on a frame, and you can check all fitments, and alignment. Good Luck with your project!!!

We are both thinking of the same piece Class of 69.
It goes from the front cab support to the back...maybe 1' inward from the rocker panel??? Been awhile since i was underneath my cab and thought about it.

Here is a pic of the cab underside. The out riggers are the long
"z" shaped pieces. I can't think of anything else that fits the description. Jim |

Thanks, Jim I did not think that there was any other braces besides those. So they are called outriggers the two long pieces of metal that go from the front cab support to the back cab support and run almost directly over the frame? Because I do not see anything else that it could be.

I have all kinds of rot in my cabfloor that I'm replacing right now. My outriggers are dust in the wind too & Class of 69 you are right - the cab can spread. Just in my case, it spread due to all the rot prior to me getting my hands on the truck. The door wont close right so I have to use some threaded rod & a turnbuckle to crank it all back into shape before i replace too much metal. Under my tank & under that thing that the cabsupport bolt goes through the floor is GONE. They dont make any of that for our trucks so I'm fabbing it up one piece at a time. I did one cabcorner yesterday & today/tomorow is turnbuckle/rear outer floor/cab support day. Now i'm off for more argon/co2!

c-tenkind, Jim is correct: the "outrigers" are the long, z-shaped pieces that extend from the firewall braces back to the rear of the cab (good pic, Jim), almost but not quite parallel to the frame. They ARE reproduced in 45" length, and LMC has them for about $10 each.
