Oil cooler needed??
Hi guys;
while I was getting my inspection done the mechanic asked why I deleted the oil cooler off the engine. I didn't really have a good answer other than to save space. Now I'm wondering if this is something I should put back on? I just didn't see the point as I'm not sure what exactly would cycle the oil through those lines or if it is just something of a gimmick? What did you guys do?

Re: Oil cooler needed??
You don't need the oil cooler lines...most people don't run it. I don't run them on my swaps. But, you certainly could run it. I suppose it may help keep the engine running cooler and may certainly be effective in keeping your engine running healthy for more miles, etc.
I suppose it's one more thing that makes the LSx a great engine.

Re: Oil cooler needed??
The only time you really need an oil cooler is when its hot like So. CA is or AZ hot and then it helps loads. Besides that, if you make anything over 450HP it just adds to making it live longer in stop and go traffic, the above mention heat and drag racing.
