Parts list anybody?
I'd like to upgrade to a 105 A or better internally regulated alternator. Does anybody know what and where I can get everything that I need to do this? And also, how to do it i.e. a procedure? Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Parts list anybody?
I got one from DB electrical. Fantastic customer service. There is a thread on here somewhere.
While your at it you might as well go 140 or 200 amp. |

I think that the 200 amp would be the way to go. I'm planning on putting a heated seat kit and a pretty nice stereo in it. Also a couple of electric fans. Gonna need a lot of juice!

Re: Parts list anybody?
A 1985 Corvette alternator is 120amps and should be a bolt on, plug in swap for the internal regulator ones and an easy upgrade for the external regulator ones. You will have to change the pulley and you may have to reclock the back depending on your wiring, but no big deal.
With a little work, you could swap to a CS144. The CS130 is more common, but has issues. The CS144 is much more robust. You can buy a conversion plug from NAPA as a EC82 or from AC Delco as 8077 so you don't have to cut or splice any wires. Use 1996 Roadmaster as an application. I did this on my '83 K20and I got mine from the local Delco store. I run dual electric fans and the voltage never drops. You will probably need a longer belt. My advice is to use a good quality belt like a Gates because if you don't the extra power will cause it to squeak. These higher amp alternators are meant to run with serpentine belts that can have more power. On my truck, I changed to a wide, serpentine style belt from a mid 80s Caprice just for the crank to water pump to alternator. I left the p/s and a/c alone. But if you use a quality belt, you don't have to change to serpentine. With any of these higher amperage conversions, you will want to run an additional large wire from the back of the alternator to the battery because you can't run much more power through the stock ammeter. Even if you have an "idiot light" dash you still should run bigger wire from alternator to battery. You don't want to overheat the wire and have the insulation melt.

Re: Parts list anybody?
Solid advice man. I appreciate it. So it looks like I need to find a CS144 and a plug EC82 or 0877 and it's plug and play?? And by use a 96' roadmaster as an application, is that for finding the alternator?
