72 c 10 longbed rear susp.
Hey guys... maybe a rookie question here... but was the stock suspension on a 72 longbed custom deluxe Coil and not leaf spring... was the swb leaf spring and not coil? I'm not sure i have a stock suspension .. was thinking of lowering a bit ... but now i dont know where to start .. Who know's what the prevoious owner did to this truck... pieced it together .. im sure of that. Any help would be great
i'll try to get a side profile pic .. or check my page on here.. thanks nate

These trucks could be ordered with coil or leaf springs.
Either one. Doesn't matter if it's a lwb or swb truck. Post up some pics of your suspension, and we'll take a look.

Re: 72 c 10 longbed rear susp.
thanks... mine is definitely a coil rear.. was just wondering if that was what it was supposed to be. previous owner mentioned something about 12 bolt rearend also... Any way to find out what that is off of? or what gear it's running 3.73 .. im just guessing..
thanks nate

Re: 72 c 10 longbed rear susp.
The 'best' way to determine the gear you're running is to pull the cover and count. Count the number of teeth on the pinion and divide it by the number of teeth on the ring gear. (30 teeth on pinion/8 teeth on ring gear = 3.75).
If you don't want to do that you can get a 'good' estimate by jacking up one rear tire (important to leave the other one on the ground). Turn that tire exactly two times and count how many times the pinion on the rear end turns. If it goes just a little past 3 turns most likely you have 3.08. Little under 3 1/2 probably 3.42. Almost 4 turns 3.73. The 'good' method is not exact but will at least let you know if you're running 2.xx, 3.xx or 4.xx gears. Hope that helps. Now how bout some pics of your build. We LOVE pics around here lol.

photos:
kind of like the angle of the stance but about 2-3 inches lower would be ideal
