Power Steering

Ok so I just bought myself a LS engine to put in my 66. My question is that now that it has the power steer pump on it already I am gonna put power steering on my truck. What am I going to need, and who makes the best conversion kit. I want to use the orginal steering colum too. Another question I want to move my gas tank out of the cab, who makes a good tank at a good price. thanks in advance for any info.

Re: Power Steering

Tuffy,

Here is one way to do it with a LS motor.

CaptianFab (site vendor) makes a bracket kit as well and you don't have to drill out a hole in the PS box.

Good luck,

TR

Here is the for sale thread for my power steering adapter plates.

For a gas tank, considering you are goping with EFI, I would recommend a tank by Dave Boyd. He is also a site vendor here.

Re: Power Steering

Make sure your power steering box is from a newer truck with metric fittings. Its easier to do when everything is metric. If i remember I used a box from a 86 c10 and ordered the high pressure line from year vehicle. The hard line has to be shaped a little but will come out between the fender and the frame. The metric line will bolt directly into the p/s box on the 5.3. I have had no issues at all..
