Steering column install advice, steering wheels
Hi, I put my ididit column in today (temporarily)and I was kind of excited until I put my seat in. Looks too close to my legs. This is a tilt column. I was thinking to move the column drop towards the seat which hopefully would elevate the column and then pull column the remaining inch it has sticking out in the engine compartment. I cannot pull the column towards the seat now because where the wiring comes out of the column won't allow.
Next is where do I buy a steering wheel? I didnt discuss this with Justin at Scott's hotrods. I really need a steering wheel! Examples of steering wheels would be nice. ; ) Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Steering column install advice, steering wheels
It seems if you had a different column drop bracket you could raise it an inch at the bracket - might give you an extra 2-2 1/2 inches height at the wheel.

Re: Steering column install advice, steering wheels
My husband said see about getting another column drop, I was thinking I could MAKE this work with what I have. I'll call Scottshotrods tomorrow and see about another drop.
Thank you! Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Steering column install advice, steering wheels
Take a look at the early Corvette, Camaro wheels, and 6 bolt hubs.
Looks like you could use a shorter column drop!

Re: Steering column install advice, steering wheels
Have you thought about the possibility of dropping your seat a couple of inches? If you can do it, you'd likely gain a lot of room.

Re: Steering column install advice, steering wheels
Gosh Solidaxle, your truck is gorgeous! I'll check into some of the wheels you suggested.
As for lowering the seat Chevette, too much work! Lol Tomorrow I think I'll unbolt the existing drop, and just hold it to where I'd think it should be, then order another drop. Should be simple enough to figure out. I'd still like a steering wheel mounted, tomorrow I'll start a thread asking to see steering wheels, nothing fancy, but nice . ; ) Posted via Mobile Device |
