8" or 10" wheels
Not real sure where to put this but I need to see some pictures of 67-72 trucks with 8" and 10" so I can see how far out they set.
All the pictures in the sticky threads do not list tire size or wheel width or back spacing. Iam really wanting 10" rims but am worried they will stick out to far and I can't seem to find wheels I like that have more of a backing spacing then 3.65" . Thought about doing 8s on the front and 10s on the back but not sure if the tire height will not change. I am going with some RaceLine Rockcrushers with 33/12.50s and it looks like I will need a set of tires sooner then I thought as I found a pretty good slice on a front tire and blew a screw out of a back one today and it has a pretty good size hole now. Yeah I did not want to post a picture thread but can't find pictures or trucks with tire and wheel info. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 8" or 10" wheels
For a 4 wheel drive I suggest the same width on all four corners... most of the trucks with 33x12.5 will have 8 inch rims. I don't like the look of 10" rims unless you are running a larger tire...

Re: 8" or 10" wheels
Yeah the wheel width difference front and rear has me wonder if it would change the height of the tire enough to matter being a skinny will would not let the tire spread out as far.
I like the look of a wider wheel but don't want them sticking out to far on the front, why I was needing some pictures so I could see for my self how far out they stick. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 8" or 10" wheels
So I would be looking at around 2" out of the finder atleast on the 10s, seems like to much for sure then.
I put one of my 20/10s off my Z71 on it and they fit real well with a little over 5" of bs but i dont want 20s on this truck..lol guess i will just plan on 8s unless i see a picture of 10s and ones that have alot more bs to them. |

Re: 8" or 10" wheels
just info---- if you run 4.5 inch backspacing on back and 4 inch on the front---- then 10's on back and 8's in front ---- front and rear should be very even and still be under the fenders.
Tire height if even noticeable can be evened out by running a little less air pressure in the front. I like the result on my 67 --- but what got me there was I needed wheel clearance for the calipers and the tie rod end on the GM 10 bolt front diff. hence 4 " backspacing on front ---- I do not have inside wheel weights on lip of rim in front I run 265x70x15's all way around. 17" would allow me to run more backspacing on the front. I run 255 85r16 on 8 inch rims. I have aluminum 16x8 too. I like a skinier tire in snow/mud with good clearing tread. Last two hunting seasons she has gotten us out of 16+ inches of snow.

Re: 8" or 10" wheels
Yeah Iam going to go with 8" wide wheels in a 16" , I found some with 4.5" backspaceing so I won't have to worry about them sticking out any.
Skinny tires do work well they will dig right down to solid ground for sure. Posted via Mobile Device |
