Made my first long haul in the 59 chevy

Drove from California to Oklahoma this last month. The 235 Pulled a 13X6 enclosed trailer with 4800Lbs. Total Weight was 10,000Lbs. Was a fun trip. Took some video. Not much to watch But Im sharing the trip.

Mike, first thank you for your service to this country... second thanks for the ride along.. the tire blow out i'm sure happened in Calif. where we have the worse roads than just about anywhere..

You guessed it. Flat tire in California. Roads were the same roads the cowboys used with there horses. Was fun. Second day my speedo Stopped working.

Recorded About 10 MPG. Was getting About 16MPG before without the trailer. Running 3.38:1 gears. Lots of time at the pump. But in 100+ degree Weather you need time to cool.

Welcome to Oklahoma. I remember making that very long, boring trip a few times in my 57. Sure wish I had a/c in the truck.

Cool, people probably thought you were crazy for driving that "old truck" love it I made a trip on some of that same highway coming home from our route 66 trip last year, from Albuquerque to Tennessee in 23 hours just stopping for gas. That was a adventure all should do.

Yes A/C would have been GREAT. And a lot of folks were not sure if it would make it, but at the same time they were happy to see it on the road. I am happy to see it on the road. Hope all the folks that saw it will take that as a sign to get a old car and drive it.

what a great video, i cant wait untill i get my 64 out on the road. i drove my 57 chevy 210 from PHX to Seattle and it was an adventure, but no problems.
