Pointers on EXHAUST

Hey guys,

Currently I have 2 1/4" exhaust with magnaflows and 2 1/2"
side pipes after the mufflers..
Im debating weather to change out the 2 1/4" to 2 1/2 running through the magnaflows..
I still want the drive-a-bility but just a tad bit more noise.

With the 2 1/4" exhaust on now, it is pretty loud..I think i might have gotten used to the sound, which might have a lot to do with why I want louder..

any opinions?

Re: Pointers on EXHAUST

ohh and my truck is a daily driver.. has a mild 327 with a mild cam, headers etc..
I sit in traffic almost everyday coming home from work for about an hour in 100 degree weather..
so not sure if the 2 1/2 would give me headaches?

I am not sure if there is much difference sound wise between a 2 1/4 and 2 1/2" pipes.

Re: Pointers on EXHAUST

That tiny bit of difference will make no difference in sound.

if you want louder, get different mufflers. Smaller magnaflows than you have will give you more loud, and not the drone.

Re: Pointers on EXHAUST

hmm so the swith from 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 will make little to no difference?

I would say very little difference to the ear. Agreed the mufflers will have more influence for you. I tried various mufflers and I ended up with Spintec.

Re: Pointers on EXHAUST

Probably the only difference you will see with the dual exhaust between the 2-1/4 and 2-1/2 will be a lighter wallet

You want to get rid of the 'headache rumble'?

Get rid of the headers, install the corvette ramhorns and go with a single 3'' exhaust with a magnaflow

Smaller will make it louder. And putting a chambered muffler on there will also make it a bit louder.
