Mine measures 17" too but my pedal pad is straight and yours looks crooked. Also, mine has definite bends in it and yours looks kind of bowed. Maybe it is just the angle the pic was taken at.

Re: Brake pedal bent??

Thanks Leon,

I will agree it looks bowed, I always tear up my shoe catching it coming off the gas. I measured closer to the top and got closer to 16 3/8"

Did the automatics also come with a wider pedal?

I added a few more pics, the angle is as straight as I can get it.

Thanks

Looks bent to me,not sure how that would happen though. Any chance the bushings are all worn out and the spring is cocking it over? just a thought.

Re: Brake pedal bent??

just checked the bushing, it doesn't look worn there is minimal play side to side in the peddle. I'm taking the booster off and the column out, i'm thinking i will just pull it and straighten it.

When it stops raining I will go out and take a picture of the '70. It has an auto in it.

OK, the first picture is the '68, the second one is the '70 and the third one is the '72. They all angle to the right. I didn't take a picture of the '67 but it is just like the '68...

No problem Randy. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to bend it over a little to give you a bit more room.
