need advice on door adjustment
I did a search on this topics and did not quite find what I needed. So I'll start a new one
I've hung the doors and need to get them set correctly so I can get the fenders on and shimmed up so I don't pop paint. Any ideas you have for mounting and adjusting will be appr. I was reading one post where a member used "paint sticks taped to the various areas around the door" as a temporary shims/filler support for the doors? This sounds good but I can't find the post now - go figure) Afain any thought and idea you have are appri. Thanks Jake

Re: need advice on door adjustment
I looked for a tread also but couldn't find it. I used paint sticks and eye balling to get it close. It took a while to get it aligned and straight. The factory didn't do a good job in the alignment and spacing. Here is some pics of my doors.

Re: need advice on door adjustment
Jake you got it right, paint sticks sets it real close to factory specs, use lots of masking tape to protect the edges...lots of patience...good luck

Re: need advice on door adjustment
Thanks,
would it be normal to use a shims to "lift" out the fender so I have some breathing room. Is there a set "thickness" for the size of the shims, I have a Paint and Body store in town where I can get some shipm a handful would be plenty, but hate to buy the wrong size. Any thoughts on this aspect/

Re: need advice on door adjustment
Start your shimming and alignment at the door, then to fenders, then hood, some have even used a string with strong magnets to run a line from back of cab to fender tip for alignment.

Re: need advice on door adjustment
Once you get them in their final position, drill through the hinge and body with a 1/8" bit. Drill each half of the hinge in two different spots. Whenever you have to take the door off, all you'll have line up are the holes- no guessing or readjusting to get the doors back in adjustment.

Re: need advice on door adjustment
be careful where the front fender meets the door! they should NOT line up! the door i believe should be slightly in further or they hit! dimensions in the assembly manual. if you need i can email you if you email me!
