bench seat 1965; where to get it.

I had originally put bucket seats in my 65 after the t-56 swap. Now I found out I will be having a 2ND kid and want a bucket seat back. Issue is that I bit rid of the old bench. Does anyone know where to get one? Local junk yards seem to have eliminated their stock th is old ABC I can't find and aftermarket correct replacement. Any ideas?

Got two of them that you can have either one if you cover shipping.

Courage80, if you don't take Clydes offer, would you let me know. LOL I'm in the same boat as you. I have two little girls. My current seats are two small buckets from a 94 eclipse..

Re: bench seat 1965; where to get it.

if you can find the seat brackets for a 60-66, they will bolt right onto a 73-87 seat , only thing is the seat will not fold forward like 60-66.

don't forget that all 60-66 chev and gmc will work, so check out for the big c/50-80 grain trucks and such...

Re: bench seat 1965; where to get it.

I dont have the bracket so I would need that as well.

I am down for covering the shipping as long as it isn't too extreme. I dont know what the actual cost for shipping would be for the seat. If either of you guys that have seats want to hit me up via PM we can discuss further. Thanks.

no matter what the shipping is gonna be, it's still less expensive the shipping a seat AND paying for the seat. What a great offer!

Re: bench seat 1965; where to get it.

my suggestion, my dad used to ship seats alot with his wrecking yard, is to have the guys disassemble the seat, I would ship the bottom by itself , no brackets, then ship the top, and lay the brackets across , where the backrest has the "J" shape at the bottom, or if they make the box too heavy, seperate as well...

Re: bench seat 1965; where to get it.

Don't get me wrong, I am interested in the seats. I just need to make sure that I don't say "yeah, ship it" and the shipping turns out to be way more than what the hormone controlled wife has already said I can have for the seat.

I understand it isn't necessarily cheap to ship ths seat, and understand the true offer that these guys have made. Hopefully I can get a seat pretty soon from one of the guys here and put it to good use. I will then be able to move forward with the build and get a thread going.

Not to talk you out of an original style seat, but the '88-'98 pickup bench seats fit these trucks rather nicely. There are several threads here about seats.

Crowley is not that far from the Springs...you can check other cities along the front range as well via craigslist for bench seats.

Greyhound for a 100lb package with 65 " length would be $125.

I kind of agree with the Captain on this one. I know that it doesn't have the "original" look, but my grandpa had one of these benches in his 66 back in the day and it rode pretty nice. These old seats are so springy that you tend to get bounced all over the place going over bumps.

If its of any use, I have a seat from a 73 pickup with a folding back that I need to get rid of. But you'd still need some 60-72 brackets.

Re: bench seat 1965; where to get it.

I appreciate the feedback. I have a hundred hours (not a lot compared to some] in this and kinda want to do it with a nice OG style seat. I will end up reupholstering it but really want to keep the original style seat. With all the other work, the last thing I want to deal with is seat mounting and brackets.
