Classified Preference

To all members who sale on the classifieds. What is more acceptable when posting multiple parts, one thread with 20 parts or 20 seperate threads for a single part.

I have been around here for years, off for 2, new name because I lost my old email and registration information - I think I was 67c_10_Texas or something.

I will be parting out said 67 and would like an honest answer on how to go about it. It seems when i read mutiple posting threads, it is hard to decifer what is going on with some parts and confusion is abound. But maybe i am wrong. What do all of ya'll reccomend. What is accepted?

thanks
Darrell

Re: Classified Preference

Good question. I would not do 20 parts in one thread, gets very confusing. Maybe five or seven,, something you can work with and not have a ton of repetetive questions. Good luck with your sales.

Re: Classified Preference

I prefer ads where the like items are grouped together. If you have 20 to sell try to limit it to two or three posts...any more and the parts forum hogging police will getcha

Re: Classified Preference

Fewer parts listed + shipped prices is way less confusing than a million parts and no shipping costs included. I prefer buying from those that list shipped prices.

Yessss. This is good gouge. Also, it's nice to tell the buyer if you want them to pay the paypal fees in advance. The "gift" thing is somewhat iffy - and it still incurs fees on the giver if a credit card is used thru paypal. So, the tip would be (buying tip, that is) - use the bank account you have associated with paypal rather than the credit card.

Re: Classified Preference

I would list about 5-10 per ad. The problem with shipped prices is there are alot of CA and canada members and shipping is always more to those locations. (for me)
And as far as the "gift" feature with paypal, i normally skip them if the seller requests the gift feature. First problem is there is no recourse at all on lost or damaged parts. Second, how long before you use their service and it will be gone or cost us more for abusing it? And as far as the seller requesting the paypal fees for a $20 item, i think they should just list it for $20.60 and not even say a word. I can understand if you are selling items over say $75 to ask for help with fees.
And always have decent pictures of your parts. Nothing worse than someone posting something good for sale and "posting pics later"...
May have strayed off the point some, but this is what i watch for on selling.
Good luck with your sales.

Re: Classified Preference

All good advice here, and I would also caution you about shipping. If you know it will go flat rate USPS, fine. I have lost a ton of money on shipping costs, don't rely on those online calculators

A couple ads with a few items is most manageable IMHO

One thing I like to do (not an original idea) is spell out clearly in the beginning what it takes to get an item. i.e. asking a question will lose out to "I'll take it". Hate to see someone asking questions about all the parts (to get in line I suppose) then passing on it all... meanwhile REAL buyers move on.

Re: Classified Preference

Thanks guys for all the good feedback. i will start posting up this weekend. On items that will not be shipped, say a CAB or Frame, would you preffer to have "not shipped" in the title of the post or stated in the description?

thanks for all the help.
